A solid knowledge of electronics (digital and analogue) and electromagnetic circuits is required, plus experience of the design of circuits for harsh operating systems (i.e. EMC, temperature, vibration).
The role requires the ability to conceptualise a packaged solution, select components and design suitable circuits and PCB layouts, liaise with mechanical and software engineers to produce a final design suitable for manufacture, and de-bug and commission prototype and production parts including performance and type approval testing.
Experienced in the complete development cycle, from writing specifications, schematic design, assisting PCB layout, BOM creation and type approval testing.
Minimum of 2 years industrial experience.
Experience of power electronics and RF design would be beneficial.
Good degree in Electronics Engineering or related subject.
Role 2:- Firmware / R&D Engineer – to £40k
The Component Research and Development team is a newly formed department that is responsible for developing ground-breaking sensors and other high performance components. The team will work closely with teams within the organisation, customers and academic partners.
The successful candidate will work within the CRD team to design and develop innovative products and solutions for challenging applications and harsh environments.
Your main responsibilities include:
- Generate project proposals.
- Generate software design documentation.
- Develop firmware for 8 and 16 bit microcontrollers.
- Test firmware on evaluation/prototype/production hardware.
- Develop graphical user interfaces and test scripts.
- Research and evaluate technologies.
- Generate test reports.
- Plan and report on status of projects.
Working in a small R&D team you will be expected to assist with other tasks undertaken by the team whilst working on various concurrent projects and meeting specified timescales.
